Minxxy , Intarsia sweaters, tight fitting and me!

To answer your question, Ronke, Yes i did knit my Minxxy jumper! I thought I'd share the story of how I came to knit it with you all.

My mate Linda, who is one of my bestest mates in the whole wide world, gave me a pressie of a tight fitting Minnie the Minx t shirt TO DIE FOR!! Now me , being me, I don't do tight fitting, never have, never will. I think it's a throw back to 1977 when skinny rib thin materialed jumpers were all the rage. Remeber them?? The ones that showed off every wrinkle, flabby bit and more importantly at 11, made your boobs look like Jordan's, even though, in reality, they looked more like bee stings!

Anyway back to the story, desperate to wear the t shirt I looked at it, tried it on, vowed to loose 5 stone to fit into it, realised that unless I cut my limbs off and possibly my head, I had no realistic way of achieveing this and told myself I was just being stupid. So I had to come up with some cunning plan. Looking forlornly at it, I noticed a label dangling at the back. EUREKA!!!!! I had cracked it. Armed with a plan , I set to it! Photocopied the wee label, enlarged it a bajillion times, traced around the outline with greaseproof paper, transfered it onto graph paper, highlighted the outline using one square as one stitch, filled in the colours using my trusty old coloured pencils ( the only thing these damn things are good for with their wishy washy colour!!) and the pattern was done! Armed with this went in search of the proper coloured wool. Now I already had the black in my stash, i needed only red, skintone and orange. Easy enough I thought, but alas NO!! Trying to locate the correct shade of all three colours in the proper percentage of wool to match the black was a bugger!!! Anyway I eventually got what I thought was near enough and then the fun began!! I couldn't stop knitting it cos it was soooooo interesting! I also decided to add Minxxy onto the back simply because I didnt want to knit it plain! Went into word, found a font I liked, printed it off, enlarged etc etc etc.... you know the drill by now!!!

Anyone can do this with a little patience, time, dedication and.... erm .....well knitting skills I suppose!!!
