I hate technology
I don't really, I hate it when it doesn't work! I have pictures to post, and Hello is not working. I am hacked off and I think I am going to move this whole thing to Typepad. I'm trying the free trial thingy so if you could all bear with me for now, normal service will either continue/ an all singing all dancing new blog may appear/ or this bloody computer might just go winging out the window! (delete as applicable) You might just find me here http://minxxy.typepad.com/minxxys_world/
if you do, can you leave a comment so I know it works?? Cheers Dears

Well Howdy Doody
Long time no post my Blog Buddies! How ye all doing? We are all fine here at Minxxy's World. I am sticking to my diet like a good little angel should. You know, Angel should be my middle name as I'm ever such a good girl. Infact, not only is my halo chocking me as I type, I went and lost 3lbs this week at Slimming World!! Whoop whoop! To top it all off, I am sticking rigidly to the eating plan and chocolate has not passed my lips for nearly 10 days! I feel great and the eating plan is not posing any major problems (so far)
On the knitting front I am working on a project that I cannot tell you about as the person it is for reads my blog ( well, I think they do!) It should be finished this week then I'll post it off ...............et voila! I will post a piccie or two on here.(that's if Hello works, it's gubbed for now) This gift is a long overdue and I hope the person likes it as much as I do. I really want to keep it for myself but , alas, I have to give it away. Next on the needles is a funky steering wheel cover for my little car. I found the pattern in Stitch & Bitch Nation and have the wool all ready for the big cast on. There a loads of patterns I would love to do from this book. So many, that I ordered the original Stitch & Bitch. That makes sense doesn't it? Loads you want to kit from one book so you order another? It's a knitter thing! Typically, I can only use about half the S&B book as the other half is dead basic knitting skills and when you are a Knitting Diva like myself it's a total waste. Mind you, the way it is written makes me smile so I'll be reading it anyway.
We think Skeggy is pregnant! Holy Lord! Im too young to be a Granny. Stupidly we have been letting her out for 15 minutes here and there so she can get used to the big bad outside. I specifically asked the vet if she could get caught by a sex starved Tom cat and he said "No, she is too young to fall pregnant or to be neutered" WELL MR VET, is it the Immaculate Conception of Cats?!!!??????? I am devistated that my wee scrag tag cat is going to have babies. I mean, what a dirty stop out she is hanging with the boys! Anyone wannna kitten??? Free.

CONGRATULATIONS LILIAS & CHRIS

Chris asked Lil to marry him on Christmas Day and she said YES!!!! Well Done to you both xx

I know I was a bit late in blogging that marvellous news. I have no excuse for my lax attitude. As I type I should be heading out the door to the first weigh in, I'll post in a while how I got on! It's snowing outside and I hope it lies and in the morning I'll wake up to 4 feet of snow. Yippeeeeeeee.

Right I gotta go, see ye soon

My new clothes horse. Only kidding, this is my cheapskate attempt at excercise. 10 minutes a day to begin with is my target but we will wait and see! Geoff also has been bouncing about on it. Infact, last night he was running on the spot eating a bag of crisps....." just working it off my Sweet" was the reply to my puzzled look. I dont think he has the concept of exercising to loose weight yet.

Lilias's new sparkly ring. Not the best of photographs but I took about a zillion and I still can't work the bleedin camera. It's either too light and white unfocused or just rubbish! She also does NOT have a dislocated finger, I think she is trying to drink too much tea with her pinky sticking straight up in the air! Posh? Not at all !

My christmas money is now spent.
I have blown it all on these two books from Amazon. The Stitch n Bitch one is fantasticola. I can't wait to knit some stuff outta it but I have a to do list first.... finish Rogue, those baby jackets, a baby shawl then I CAN GET STUCK IN! Whoop Whoop!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Monday night weigh in wasn't as bad as expected. I only put on 4 lbs since 8th November. I must admit, it feels a whole lot more but the scales never lie. Or do they? They never lie when the weigh loss/ gain is good when you have cheated but when you have stuck to the eating plan like glue and you only loose half an ounce then those scales are ALWAYS wrong and telling lies..... or is that just us?? Probably the second statement. Here's to a good week off the chocolate.

The rain abates.....
....but for how long? As I type, the Man is outside bailing out the paths around the shed! I came home tonight to find a water pump at the top of the stairs and he is out there pumping the water!
Hope you all had a good weekend, I did, although it was a struggle to get out my pyjamas to venture out. Nevertheless I did , and spent the evening at the local Chinese resturant, stuffing my face and singing karaoke with Norman, Isabell, Kev and Anj. Geoff's choice of songs were the entire back catalogue of Neil Diamond. Personally, I sang Hello Dolly and Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana and Justified and Ancient by The K.L.F and Tammy Wynette. Some cheeky sod asked me what I was singing and not waiting for a reply announced "whatever it is , it will be LOUD!!" With a friend like that who needs enemies?? Not me!
Tonight, I am going for the big, after Christmas, weigh in. I am 40 this year and want to be Fab and Forty. I like Ali's idea of a trampoline thingy to bounce about on as exercise. I will be looking into purchasing one of those I think! I'll post in the comments how I get on...... gotta go, there's some chocolates lurking about from Christmas I'll have to have polish off! NOAH............ send us yer Ark my Son.
I cannot remember the last time it didn't rain! Lordy, it has chucked it down forever and then some. Why! It's even chucking it down now. The gardens are all flooded, Parsley got cut off by the rising flood water and I had to rescue her, Geoff was threating to lift the shed, rebuild Hadrians' wall around the base (to keep out the water not the Scots!), then replace the shed to make it flood proof! If you know Geoff, you will know that his shed means the World to him, and the scooters inside, apart from mines, are his prides and joys!!
I am a shed widow!
On top of all the rain, I had a threatening letter for the bloke who used to live here and left owing THOUSANDS!!!!!!!. I used to returm them unopened with a " no longer lives here ... address unknown" note scrawled all over it in red pen. When that failed , I took the bull by the horns , opened them up, phoned the company and explained the situation, and hoped that would be the end of it. But oh no!. I have opened, phoned, opened ,phoned, opened ,phoned for nearly as long as it has been raining , telling them the same story , until last night I lost the plot!! The piece of conversation which sticks most in my mind, along with the stroppy attitude I had towards the wifie was.... " I am getting a tad PISSED OFF with this situation.I have phoned your company on numerous occasions to sort this out. If sherriff officers come to my door when I am at work and empty my home of goods to the value of the debt someone's head will roll. I DO NOT KNOW, AND NEVER HAVE KNOWN , THE MAN IN QUESTION!!. GET YOUR COMPUTER RECORDS SORTED!!!" Yell, yell, rant, rave.......
I felt better after that. Time will tell but if another letter falls through this letter box , I will lace up my Docs and trudge down the their head office and ............................................ well, I'll leave the rest to your imagination!

January sales
As you all know, I am not a shopper. Well, that's techically not true as I would spend hours and hours in wool /fabric /paint /craft shops but that's neither here nor there. Today I took the Princess to my local wool shop so she could pick out her own shade of wool to go with the jacket she got from her Nanny for Christmas. Although she got the cracking hat and scarf from her Old Auntie Jackie, she wanted a change scarf so her neck is always warm and cosy. The peach one goes well with her cream jacket so we decided to match up the wool with her pink jacket.
Anyway, the point of my story is, we went into the shop and I immeadiately spied SALE Rowan Fabric Was £8.95 NOW£2.95 . Bargain or what?? Some of the fabric is alrighty but most are a tad 70's retro for me! Nevertheless, not a price to be sniffed at.........if you like that sort of thing. I didn't buy any but I just know I am going to regret that the minute the sale finishes!

New Year, New Attitudes
2005, this is it! A new me will emerge by 2006. 2005........... a turning point year. Why I hear you ask? Some of my goals for the forthcoming year is as follows, in no particular order.......

* Loose weight, I want to be Fab and Forty!

* Ensure there is less food wasted in this house. Watching T.V and seeing the plight of the Tsunami survivors, what we throw away per week would be a lifeline to them. Do we really need to have so much food in the fridge? I dont think so!

*Apply myself more to my blog. Although I have been posting regularly, the content at times leaves a lot to be desired! I aim to be more creative, inspirational, and original in my posts. It keeps me from becoming mundane and like Oliver, it keeps you readers coming back for more!

*Keep the house more tidy and be more organised with tea. We are going to have less take away and more hand burnt dinners from the hands of yours truly!

*Encourage Leigh to talk more to others and for me to stop talking for her..... she's gonna be 12 this year for Chrissake!!

I think that little list will keep me going for some time and I HOPE I can stick at it!

Wish me Best of British an all that Jasmine!

Tomorrow we head of Dahn Sarf to Lincolnshire to see The Goodmans, Geoff's side of the family. I am really excited to see them all again and we will have Christmas Part 2! I won't be posting until the New Year so have a good one wherever you are!
To add to the Festive season it snowed again today. Not piddly little flakes but huge massive ones that Lil so descriptively compared to prawn crackers! Oh if only it would snow Duck pancake rolls!

A day of rest.
Today, I have done zero, zilch, nothing! That's really a bit of a lie because I went to my local wool shop, armed with the voucher I got from my Mum and Dad for Xmas! Oh what joy it was to look at every kind of wool and not be put off by the price per ball!! I have decided in my wisdom, or foolishness, to join a Rogue knitalong. I enjoyed the Think Pink one so much I have been surfing about looking at the various knitalongs and Rogue has always been in the back of my mind to do. SO............................. I signed up for it! I bought the Rowanspun for the project but to be honest, I would have liked something with less wool in it for washings sake. Sirdar Aran really caught my eye BUT the acrylic content in it was way too high for my liking at about 60%. Next on my list was Rowan calmer but I was not too sure if this was an Aran weight or not and my little red bible that has all my knitting hints, tips, and notes was in my other bag. Bum'oles!! I came home and have been parked on the couch for the rest of the day and night knitting a little baby jacket before I start the knitalong...... a girl has to have discipline and I cannot leave a half finished baby thing to go onto an adult sized Aran using thicker wool! This gal has a will of steel (when it suits her!)

Work nights out
Good thing / bad thing ??
The jury are out on this. Now we all know that everyone in the world cannot get on and there are people out there that you may not like and there are people who may not like you. That's life! So in the workplace that may also apply. Christmas is the time to come together and enjoy so a tinsel decked night out is the way forward. Right? Well, that's if you can decide to go out on one! This year, we haven't arranged one. Not that we all hate each other, no-one could be arsed! Then again, did we seriously talk about one? I think we were all too busy! I hope that's the reason!
This leads me on to tonight, Geoff's works night out. Apparently we have been upgraded to the £45 a skull do where there is a self serve buffet, a band and a Tom 'effin Jones tribute man! Holy Moley!! How frockin shoite will that be?? (tried hard not to swear!) I am in mourning already and I aint out the door. Oh, how I bands and people trying to imitate people who I think are minging in the first place !! Oh woe! What the f*%$ ??!! Im not a happy bunny in tinsel land! Especially as I'm missing out on seeing Bladdered! , who , by the way, cover old punk choons! There is a difference in my standards when I can bop about, to covers of punk, chucking myself hell for leather here there and everywhere! They are my standards and I will bend them whenever I like!! On a more normal note...... I have gone from having no models to model my knitting to having two! They were both arguing over who was gonna try the mittens on. To save myself from a riot, I have included both of them! Weans?? who would have them??

One more day....
..... and I will be on holiday! Yahooooo!!!!. It cannot come quick enough. I am hanging by a thread. My cold has travelled into my sinuses and I feel like I've been booted in the face every time I bend forward. Woe is me. Pray for me. Send me all your money. No cheques will be accepted.
It is ruddy freezing outside, chucking it down with rain, but we want SNOW......and we want it now! Don't make me stamp my feet and throw myself roughly to the ground. I feel as if a small, nasty, loud and violent temper tantrum would do me the world of good. I might even throw in some head banging just for dramatic effect.
How sad!

I can now see the woods!!
The trees are now firmly behind me!
This weekend has been a very productive and busy one, tying up all the loose ends in preparation for Christmas. Not only have I finished Minxxy, I have wrapped all the pressies, only a few remaining to purchase, the tree and the decorations are all firmly up , the house has been semi cleaned, hoovered and straightened, the Princess' curtains are up, Christmas knitting is complete.............. oh the list is endless!
Three more days to work then I'm off for the holidays!
On the down side, I still have Christmas food shopping to do....... BAHUMBUG!! All those people with trolleys, buying as if there was going to be a war! I think the plan of action is me, the DQ and the Princess will go to Asda on Wednesday night about 10ish as Geoff has work the next day. So if you are reading this DQ, you are coming shopping and no telling tales to Geoff when I veer off the list and buy other things!!
You have been warned!

So much to do, so little time
I am frazzled! 4 people off work, the kids as high as kites, and holiday season still days away. I have curtains to finish, one pressie to make, wrapping gifts, food shopping, a few pressies still to get, tidying the house, washing, ironing, cards to write and post, Geoff's works night out to fall over at, the list goes on and on and on...................................................
my batteries are wearing out, I am crabbit, I want to win the Lottery. I have decided, not only do I want a digital camera, I now want an i-pod. I really fancy knitting whilst listening to audio books. I read it on someones blog and thought "why did I not think of that?". I spend most of my time asking Geoff what happened , who is that etc etc cos I only ever listen to a film as I am always looking down at my knitting. I can't watch a film and not knit because I instantly fall asleep, even if I have just woken up! I think I'm old before my time.
Speaking of old, it's my birthday next Friday........................................... 39!!
