Money don't make you happy, but it helps to have enough in Ikea!!!
Well hello all! It seems such a long time since I blogged! The computer was moved into the Princess’ old room therefore we were offline until today, when it became a MUST to reconnect! You see, we went to Ikea in Edinburgh yesterday to get a new foldy down bed for when the D.Q comes home from Uni and two seats for the top of the stairs for when Geoff goes for a quick puff. Problem was, I saw loadsa loadsa nice things and kept putting them in the yellow bag. They were only between 50p and £5 but when you add the sheer volume of what was in there it came to £12 more than I had in my purse!! Shock horror! What was I gonna do? I had no spare cash tucked into the recesses of my purse , not even a wee fiver lurking about the old receipts, and Geoff had no money what-so-ever! I had to pay by switch using the money that was already earmarked for something else so I NEEDED to get back online before tomorrow so I could transfer the money into the account!! Phewweeeeeeeee!! Talk about a close shave. I never, ever, ever not have enough money when I go shopping but Ikea has too many cheap and cheerful things! Had a call from the D.Q last night after midnight. I was sound asleep. I must have dozed off during cosmetic surgery live cos the last thing I remember was the woman getting a $40,000, 5 surgeries-in-one-go op before she got wed to her 77 year old boyfriend ( me? I’d tell him to take a hike but then again he looked like he was well padded in the wallet department so maybe that was her motive?? Who knows) Anyway, back to D.Q. To cut a long story short she had called to let me hear the woman from the Shapeshifters singing Lola’s Theme (ex Numero Uno in the pop parade !!!) What is the world coming to?? This mother, in her bed, on a Saturday night, when her daughter phoned, and she is out on the town?? Jeez, makes you feel old! I thought she had had an accident or something more serious to a student i.e. no money!! At the moment I have a few blooms which my Mum gave me the day she left for uni and they are just beginning to be at their most beautiful. Fair cheers me up to look at them and remember the sunshine of summer when it is blowing a gale outside and the wind is lashing the window! I’m off for now, going to read all about Secret Pal 4 (thanks Emma) cos I’d like to give it a go in the New Year. See ye all
